Latest Chernobyl Motorcycle Photos

Elena has taken another motorcycle ride through the Chernobyl area, and has updated her site with a whole lot of new photos and text. The pictures now show several surrounding towns, the radiation level of the magic wood, and many more details inside buildings. After the dust had settled from the original slashdot story, Elena wrote 'who are those slashdot people? they swept over like Mongol-Tartars.'"

Mac OS X 10.3.3 Update Released

I installed this last night on my 12" powerbook. This is a big improvement for both speed and stability. One other nice fix is that DVD+R media now plays in Apple's DVD player software!

Now I can watch "Fear and Loathing" on the Mac.

I just received my new video card from Newegg. This made a HUGE difference on my system. My frame rate in Command and Conquer Generals has tripled. It's awesome that a $100 upgrade can extend the life of a system for at least a few years!

Disney Vacation

Here are some pictures from our first family trip to Disney World. Although it was really crowded, the whole family had a great time.

We got season passes for everyone, so I'm sure we'll be back a few times this year.

Radeon 9600 for $103.00

fueled.jpg

Newegg has Radeon 9600's for $103.00 with free shipping and no tax. I couldn't pass this offer up. Tom's Hardware has a nice list of recent video card benchmarks, so you can see how present card performs. It should be a nice improvement over my Nvidia Geforce3 Ti 200. This is another great deal I found on Techbargains.com.

Kawasaki in Chernobyl

"A young Ukrainian woman has posted a photo journal of her motorcycle rides through Chernobyl and the area surrounding it. Included are pictures of the now-emptied city, maps of current radiation levels, and a discussion of how the area has changed. While the english is quite broken, it's often rather surreal, as well, with quotes like, 'I don't know how sound the silence to those tourists that they can not stand it, but to me after hitting a red line on my bike tacho it sound like all those ghosts cursing 1100cc kawasaki engin.'"
