6 1/2 Years and now we're here

In a few hours, I'm leaving for my hotel room in Tallahassee, Florida. My family and I will spend the night in Tally, and then go to the graduation ceremony at the Civic Center tomorrow morning.

I just wanted to say thanks to everyone that supported me over the last 6 1/2 years. I've been really fortunate to have a small group of friends, family, and coworkers that supported me and kept focus. Without that, I would have quit years ago. Thanks to all of you, I have finally earned my IS Degree.

From January 2, 1998 - September 11, 2001 I took night classes at UNF while working a technical support job at interlink (a local ISP), and later an applications development position at ISI.

September 11 - 30 September 2002 & March 2003 - July 2003 I spent some time on active duty with the Florida Air National Guard.

In August 2002, I started distance learning at Florida State. This was suggested to me by my bother Scott. This allowed to to go to school full time for the first time in my academic career. Thanks to distance learning, I could do my classwork on the weekend or late in the evenings. If I hadn't switched to FSU, I would still be taking night classes at UNF with a projected graduation date of May 2006!

I'm not sure what I'm going to do after this. I think if I could change a few more things with Anteon (my current employer) I think I could be happy there. Now that I'm in a management role, I think I can make it happen. But for now, I think I'm going to spend some time with my family that I neglected over the past 6 1/2 years.

So thanks again to everyone that stood by me and helped make whole thing possible.

iMix: My Favorite Office Playlist only 11.88

rainyDay.jpg

I just made all of you a mix tape. It's available on iTunes. Just click here.

It's a collection of songs I listen on in the office. It's mostly low key stuff. Which is great when I'm programming. Give it a listen.

Saturday on the Honda 919 (Hornet)

Today I put about 100 miles on my Honda 919 Hornet. I rode from my place in Jacksonville down south to Green Cove Springs. I then got on Highway 16 and then Highway 13 into Mandarin. It was a pretty nice ride. It was around 75 in the afternoon, and the weather was prefect.

The weather for this week looks awesome. I plan on riding my bike to work everyday this upcomming week.

Next weekend I plan on taking a ride up to Fernandina Beach.

Superbike World Championship

I just discovered Superbike World Championship racing today, and I must admit, I'm completely hooked. I find that I like it much more the AMA superbike.

One reason is the riders. I find the riders to be much more entertaining to listen to both before and after the race than their American counterparts. With the new rule to use a standard (control) tire from Pirelli the riders are more evenly matched.

Another reason is the bikes. AMA racing is dominated by Honda, Suzuki, and Yahama, with only one Ducati. The reverse is true with FIM. In World Superbike, the field is full of Ducati 999's and 998's, with only one Honda. I enjoy watching Chris Vermeulen on his new Honda CBR 1000 Fireblade move up the field against all the Ducati's.

I'm looking forward to the next match on 4/18/2004 in Misano Adriatico. The top four riders are very close in points. It looks to be an interesting season. I'm interested in Chris Vermeulen on the Honda Fireblade, and Pierfrancesco Chili on the Ducati 998. Pierfrancesco Chili decided to quit racing the Ducati 999 and go back to his more familiar Ducati 998. This proved to be a smart move in race 2-2 at Phillip Island. He placed second in that race.

If you haven't seen a Superbike Race, you should check out both AMA and FIM Superbike Championships. You won't regret it.

Last Week: Leo will no longer host TSS

I will miss his coverage of the mac platform on Call for Help and the Screen Savers, and the fact that he really reminded me of a co-worker (Steve Molumby).
