I just checked our surf control reports. Apparently I'm the number 1 internet user in our building. I've generated 68,596 hits since August 10th. I next guy has 24,479 hits. Scott has 12,873. It's pretty bad. Basically, if you were to print out a report that has every site I've been to in the past month, it would be 60 pages long.
I think I Should get some type of an award for this. I'm one of the most productive people in our office, and I surf the internet more than the next 3 people combined!
I'm already working on my response for when I get called out on this:
1. What's a hit?
2. Oh yeah, the internet has been really good lately.
3. Have you seen those George Bush Gnomes on Ebay?
4. Research man, Research.
I'm really not worried about it. In fact I'm kinda proud. Aside from the free coffee, the internet is the only real perk I use here. I don't take smoke breaks every 30 minutes; I don't hang around the break room for hours on end. I just sit at my cube all day. And if I have to surf the internet like a fiend to help me get through the phone con from hell, so be it.
I wonder how many hits I generated writing this?
My Star Wars DVD's were just delievered to my house. Amazon shipped them at 2:00 am today, and they arrived just 11 hours later. I'm really looking forward to seeing the first trilogy again. It's been a few years since I watched it.
Firefox.com now takes you to the spread firefox community page.
Also of interest, Firefox 1.0 Preview Release is now available. Download it and give it a try. This new realease packs a ton of new features like improved pop-up blocking, RSS reader, and Find Bar. Firefox 1.0 Final should be out in just a few months.
Anyone out there still need a Gmail account? Post your firstname, lastname, and email address in the comments section.
I'm constantly sending emails to myself with websites to review at home or to add to my favorites. It's effective, but it often results in 5-10 emails to myself per day.
Del.icio.us is a free service that allows you to post links your own personal weblog. Mine is located here. This works great with you use firefox's built in RSS reader. If you subscribe to your site's RSS feed, the links you post will automatically appear on all of your computers.
Here's all the details:
» del.icio.us is a social bookmarks manager. It allows you to easily add sites you like to your personal collection of links, to categorize those sites with keywords, and to share your collection not only between your own browsers and machines, but also with others.
» Once you've registered for the service, you add a simple bookmarklet to your browser (see below). When you find a web page you'd like to add to your list, you simply select the del.icio.us bookmarklet, and you'll be prompted for a information about the page. You can add descriptive terms to group similar links together, modify the title of the page, and add extended notes for yourself or for others.
» You can access your list of links from any web browser. By default, your links are shown to you in reverse chronological order, with those you've added most recently at the top. In addition to viewing by date, you can also view all links in a specific category (you define your own categories as you add the links), or search your links for keywords.
» What makes del.icio.us a social system is its ability to let you see the links that others have collected, as well as showing you who else has bookmarked a specific site. You can also view the links collected by others, and subscribe to the links of people whose lists you find interesting.
As the hurricane started to hit Jacksonville, I stayed inside and watched some of the best racing yet. Both series are coming to a close. After the races last weekend, AMA has only 2 races left, World Superbike has 4.
Of the two series, I must say that World Superbike is my personal fav. The competition is really close, and any of the top 5 riders can win it. Watching the two series back to back like I did on Saturday, really reinforced that.
As close as World Superbike is, it will be interesting to see who the final top three will be. I'm pulling for Vermeulen on the Honda 1000RR, and Chili on the Ducati 998 RS. I'm a Honda fan, but Chili style and antics are just fun to watch. I expect see his Bologna based team switch from Ducati to Kawasaki for the '05 season. Chili, and most other seasoned Ducati riders have had problems adapting to the new 999 RS. Chili has been very vocal about this, and had even go ne back to riding his old 998.
I love the Honda, but lately Kawasaki has really been catching my eye with the new ZX-10R. I'm looking forward to Chili's change to Kawasaki. I'm hoping Chili will get the support he needs from Kawasaki and the both develop the ZX-10R together. This could only be a good thing for Chili, Kawasaki and the World Superbike Championship.
I've received 25 gmail invitations. I gave a bunch of them to Kevin Rose and he will be distributing them live on the screen savers on Tuesday.
If you can't wait until Tuesday, I still have several initiations. If you want one, just post something funny to my blog. Tonight I will give out my remaining invitations to the best posts.
iTunes has a pretty nifty feature that allows you to publish your playlists to the iTunes music store. I just published a 180+ track playlist. It was a smart playlist that contained all songs on my iPod that have four or five stars. Of the 186 songs, 76 were available on itunes.
