Live Music downloads on Archive.org

Archive.org has an audio section where you can download recordings of concerts.

One of my favorite bands, the Mountain Goats has several shows available for download.

What's awesome, is that the band is 100 % OK with this.

"JD: I am totally in favor of tape trading, and file sharing never did anything wrong by me. People got into The Mountain Goats after downloading my stuff. The only people who are afraid of file sharing are the people whose albums are so dull presentation-wise that nobody cares about owning the actual finished product, and the people who have so little connection to their listeners that said listeners have no reason to care whether the artists they like are getting reimbursed for their efforts. My listeners are very kind to me and have tended to buy the albums whether the MP3s are available for free or not, and I always try to make the albums nice to look at and to hold in your hands while you listen. Usually by going completely overboard with text credits, but you know what I mean."

My favorite show out there is 2003-09-27 Austin, TX. It's almost studio quality and a great mix of mountain goats tracks. It's only available in a lossess format. So you'll need shorten to uncompress the wav files. After you uncompress the wav files, you can convert then to 192 bit mp3's or aac's.

Another great show is 2004-10-18 in Atlanta, GA. It was the second to the last show of the Fall 2004 Tour. The set list was very close to the St. Augustine, FL show.

del.icio.us and blogging

Ever since I discovered del.icio.us I kinda stopped blogging. I've been blogging for over a year now, and I'd like to keep it going. So I've decided on a new process. I'm going to post links to del.icio.us throughout the week. Once have enough content on del.icio.us, I'll create a blog post that ties all the del.icio.us links together in one neat blog post on this website.

Firefox 1.0 RC 1 Next Week

From Asa:

"We're very, very close to zarro boogs on the Firefox 1.0 blocker list. If all goes well this evening, we might have our first candidate build tomorrow. If that happens, we'll need a few days to test out over the weekend and could have the Firefox 1.0 release candidate shipping early next week.

We expect these upcoming RC builds to be complete and if we don't find anything new and scary, they'll become the Firefox 1.0 builds.

With 1.0 close at hand, these candidate builds are not intended for general Preview Release users. If you're interested in helping us test these near-final bits, then we're glad to have it but we certainly don't expect PR users to migrate to the RC builds with 1.0 just around the corner.

Stay tuned here for more information. We're getting very, very close."

Final World Superbike Race for 2004

The 2004 World Superbike Season ended on Oct 2nd. Through the miracle of TiVo, I watched the last race on Friday Sadly, Chris Vermeulen was unable to complete both races because of electrical problems on this Honda 1000 RR. This is really disappointing because the Vermeulen 's new 1000 RR has been solid all year long. At the beginning of the weekend, Chris was in 3rd place over all with a shot of winning the championship, but after 2 DNF's he finished 4th over all.

Though disappointing, this is still an awesome finish. This is Vermeulen's first year in World Superbike. This time last year, Chris won the 2003 World Supersport (600 cc) Championship. I'm looking forward to the 2005 season. In '05 Chris Vermeulen will be joined by Karl Muggeridge his former team mate from Supersport. Muggeridge is the 2004 World Supersport Champ. Ten Kate's supersport team is going to be awesome next year.

October 1, 2004. The Mozilla Foundation releases an important security update for Firefox. All users should upgrade to the latest version of the Firefox Preview Release. A patch is available for current Preview Release users.

Download information:

* Visit the Firefox homepage to download the latest version of Firefox Preview Release (Firefox 0.10.1)
* Current Firefox Preview Release users: when the update icon () appears in the upper right corner of your screen, just click on it to install the patch, or click here to install it.

I was able to upgrade Firefox .10 using software update in the application.
