... a pirates' life for Steve.

Michele and I went to the Mountain Goats show last night in St Augustine. We look forward to the annual show all year, and last night John and Peter definitely didn't disappoint.

He mostly played the new stuff from "The Sunset Tree." I just got the album when it was released on Tuesday, so I'm just getting to know it. John also played some classics of off "All Hail West Texas" and "Tallahasse." Tracks like "Source Decay," "Southwood Plantation Road" and "Jenny" rocked the house. All and all, great show. Can't wait to she the band next year!

My new toy

Motorola V710

I made the switch to Verizon Wireless last week. So far I'm really happy with the coverage of Verizon, I can receive calls in places I haven't been able to in the past. Finally my cell works from my office.

I love the V710. While it has its faults, the phone has the best audio quality of any phone I've ever used. So far I've used bluetooth to get online with my powerbook, and in hands free mode with a bluetooth headset. The voice command feature is also pretty slick. It understands me about 99% of the time.

I bought a 128MB transflash card, which I use to move data between the phone and my computer. Between that and the 10MB built in to the phone, can basically take unlimited pictures. It also always use it to transfer data without using email.

For the first time, I have a phone that supports sms and email messaging. SMS is great for quick messages. Sometimes it’s more convenient to message someone than it is to pick up a phone and call them. Plus it's a lot of fun to do at work.

I've been impressed with the level of customer service I got this past week. The people in the Verizon store and the telephone techs have been awesome. They've been really nice, and have quickly fixed the few problems I had during the switch.

All and all the V710 and the switch to Verizon has been a good purchase.

10.4 Tiger

I just pre-ordered Mac OS 10.4 Tiger. After free shipping and educational pricing, the total was only $74. This is such a great bargain for a great operating system with a ton of new features. My copy is scheduled for delievery on the April 29th launch date.

Oh yeah, and I wasn't selected for the maintenance officer position.

I was really surprised how fun this bike was to ride. Despite it's large size is really quite nimble. It's 103 cubic inch (1688 cm3) engine produces a ton of power.

The Self Appointed King of Slide

I took Steve to Adventure landing on Saturday. We played a few games a miniature golf which was pretty awesome. It’s great to finally find someone with the same handicap. I think we were pretty consistent with 1 over par.

We had the most fun with the go-cart races. We ran 3 races and won ever time. Most of the kids out there were just having fun driving around, not me I was RACING.

Each time, we got a pretty good starting position on the grid. We were either pole, or one back from pole. From the start we were running full throttle. We slid through ever corner. The only time I used the brake was when I made a pass. I’d slow up a little bit, and decide on the cleanest was to pass. I had Steve keep count. On the last race we lapped 8 riders. The thrill of putting our just rider “a lap down” was not lost on Steve Jr.

Daily Tabs

When Mozilla implemented tabbed browsing, I created a folder containing 20 links of sites that visited every day. Serveral times a day I would open this group of tabs and get updated from all my favorite news sites and blogs.

With the implemetation of RSS, I find that I rely on that more on RSS than the daily tabs. There are only a few websites that I actually need to see. Most have a lot of graphics or photos.

Because of this, I've redone my daily tabs:

-Urban Pug
-The Unofficial Apple Weblog
-Jacksonville Weather Daily Details
-Flickr: Photos from your Contacts
-UserFriendly Strip Comments
-MacCast
-PodcastAlley.com

Kids Playing Mario Party 6

Kids Playing Mario Party 6

The GameCube is quickly becoming my favorite gaming platform. I play it more often than my PS2 or PC.

I've really enjoyed hanging out with my kids lately. I took them to the apple store in Jacksonville, were they played the new mac based incredibles game. The kids asked if they could go back sometime soon.

Today we played with my Digital Camera. This led to a "lesson" in photography and Windows XP.
