Apple Boot Camp 1.1.2 Released

Boot Camp 1.1.2 beta contains several updates and is intended for all new and previous Boot Camp beta users.

I use Boot Camp to do dual boot between XP and OS X on my macbookpro. I'm glad I have some updated drivers. The biggest upgrade in 1.1.2 is the ability to use two finger scrolling in XP. You would believe how useful that is when you don't have a mouse.

New Mountain Goats album available on emusic

Get Lonely, The Mountain Goats latest album is available on emusic. I wanted to by the CD but it wasn't available in my local record stores. This will tie me over until I can order the CD from amazon. Have I mentioned lately that I love emusic? You just can't beat reasonably priced DRM free downloads.

Digg 3 To Launch Monday: Exclusive Screenshots and Stats

"Digg 3.0 will launch Monday, June 26, in the morning PST. The launch is being announced this evening, and Digg has made a number of screen shots available to me which are included in this post." I'm really excited about this. I spend an embarrassing amount of time on digg.com each day. What I really love about it is the ability to see what my friends find interesting. I have an rss feed of the articles they digg. It's the socal aspect of it that makes it the site very compeling for me.

New 'Get A Mac' ads available on Apple's website.

Three new ads have appeared on the Apple website that highlight the advantages of owning a mac compared with a windows PC. The ads are entitled "Out of the Box", "Touché" & "Work vs. Home."

I really liked "Touché" because it talks about dual booting with os x and xp. Making a Mac the only computer you'll need.

Comcast To Begin Testing HD TiVo?!

According to a thread on AVS forum, Comcast plans on beta testing their HD DVR with TiVo software next month! This could just be a rumor but it sounds legit since the Comcast TiVo deal has been in the open for quite some time now.

I'm currently using a 60hour Series 2 Tivo that I purchased in 2002 with Dish Network on a low-def TV, but this might be what I need to switch back to Comcast and go high def.

Return of "the Broken" and more

postmacworld.jpg

Kevin Rose is going to re-lauch his internet video series 'the broken.' Kevin will also start a new series that will pick up where the old Screen Savers left off before the show was changed by Comcast.

"This show’s content will be very much along the lines of the old TSS. Hardcore tech demos, and HOWTOs. These downloads will be packed full of information, and maybe even feature some old friends from the past.

I’m still hard at work on TSS. I’ll be on M-F delivering new segments, interviews, and content. Know that this is in no way set out to compete against G4 in any way, rather a continuation of a weekend side project I have been working on since the TechTV days." - Kevin Rose

I first heard the news on Leo Leporte's podcast. The podcast was made at Macworld just after Steve Job's keynote. Patrick, Kevin, Prager, Roger Chang, and Leo were all in the podcast. It was a TSS homecomming of sorts.

Lately it seems that I get more and more multimedia content from the web. Tuesday night I watched all of the Macworld Keynote. That was more important to me than anything on TV that night. Last night I got caught up with my Podcasts.

If you want to see Kevin's project as much as I do, you might want to consider making a donation or buying some merchendise.

G4TSS ... you're fired

I have watched the new G4TSS on G4 TechTV for two weeks. I've tried to keep an open mind, but I've come to the sad conclusion that I can no longer watch the show. I've watched and thoroughly enjoyed the San Francisco version of the show for many years. As a software programmer and IT manager, I watched it to get a daily dose of tech news and hacks packaged together in an entertaining format. It was relaxing to turn on 'The Screen Savers' on my TiVo after a long day in the office. I just don't enjoy watching the new version of the show, and it definitely isn't informative anymore.

So I’ve officially deleted TSS off of my season passes screen in TiVo. The demise of one of my favorite shows has left me wondering if I even need to bother with the television medium. With great free content on the internet like the engadget podcast, Leo Laport's Airchecks and exitframe, who needs television?

Where will Chili be in 2005?

I just found out the Chili will not be riding with the PSG-1 team in 2005. In fact Chili is currently unsigned.

Rumor has it that Chili wants to ride a Honda Fireblade in '05. I'm a big fan of the Fireblade, and Chili. I hope we are able to see him next year.

World Superbike Tests

Top level Superbike machinery from no less than six different manufacturers were present at the first official Pirelli tire tests of the off-season, scheduled to take place over three days, from 16 to 18 November.

Ducati, Petronas, Honda, Kawasaki, Suzuki and Yamaha were all in attendance.

Karl Muggeridge and team-mate Chris Vermeulen represented Ten Kate Honda on the 1000RR.

The PSG-1 team has made a swap to Kawasaki power for 2005, and ran their new two-man riding line up of Chris Walker and Mauro Sanchini on their ZX-10 machines. I'm not sure if Chili will ride on the PSG-1 team not not. More to follow on this for sure.

Ray Bradbury demands public apology

"The American author Ray Bradbury has demanded that Michael Moore return the title of his classic novel Fahrenheit 451.

Bradbury, whose science-fiction tome Fahrenheit 451 was published in 1953, blasted Moore, whose politically explosive film Fahrenheit 9/11 opened in North America this weekend, for using the title without permission and asked for an apology and for the film's name to be changed. "It's not a nice thing he has done," Bradbury, 83, said. "My book is known all over the world and that title is my title."

Bradbury said he wanted a public apology from director and author, who published a book last year slamming the Administration of President George Bush.

Moore's representatives did not return calls for comment as his movie opens across North America."

Interesting find on Ebay

Someone on Ebay is using my pictures of dad's Honda ST 1300.

This is kinda like false advertising. The person on Ebay is trying to pass my father's bike off as his own. The pictures I took of the ST 1300, when his bike was BRAND NEW.

Here's a quote from the guy. "This Bike is in like new pristine condition, and is ready to ride as the pictures will indicate."

That's just wrong.

Jacksonville Suns Baseball

baseball.jpg

A crowd of 9,154 was on hand last night to see Birmingham beat us 18 to 2, or maybe they were just there for dollar beer night. At any rate, a good time was had by all. And, for whatever reason, the fans stayed with the Jacksonville Sun right until the final inning.

I had a great time. It was nice to see Clark, Dave, Gabe, Travis, and Willey again.

The next Suns game I plan on going to is on June 2, 1:05 for the Businessperson Special - $12.50 buys a box seat, large hot dog and large beverage of choice. This is a pretty good deal, but I think it would be pretty fun to skip out on work for a ball game.

This game kicks off a nice 4 day weekend.

World Super Bike: Chris Vermuelen disqualified after Placing Second in Race 2 at Monza

FireBlade!

"Unfortunately a fault was found in the engine concerning the cut off sensor which is used for rider safety in the event of the bike falling (once the bike is laid down the engine must cut of automatically within two seconds). The team tested the relevant engine part at the beginning of the season, when the bike was taken for testing after race two it was found to be faulty. For this reason Chris was disqualified costing him valuable championship points.

Chris is now 5th in the ranking of the World Championship with 83 points and Laconi is leading with 120 points."

More Info at WorldSBK.com

I was already pretty bummed out that Pierfrancesco Chili blew two engines in race 1, and then wrecked in race two. This was the most disappointed World SuperBike race I've ever watched. It's like an Italian opera.

"Before the desperate disappointment of a double DNF at the previous Monza round, Ducati privateer Pierfrancesco Chili led the world on his 998R-based Ducati machine. Even after two no scores at Monza, he still sits in third place overall, safe in the knowledge that he had an outstanding second place in race one last year. Looking for payback from lady luck, Chili approaches his 40th birthday in June with as much speed and aggression as riders half his age, ensuring his continued popularity to a global audience." - WorldSBK

I'm looking forward to the races at Oschersleben next week.

Also, readysetconnect gives me access to cpanel a web based management console that gives me the ability to modify every aspect of my domain. This rules! Here's all the details.

Air Force Commendation Medal: Second Award

DSC00061.jpg DSC00656.jpg DSC00663.JPG

This is a pretty prestigious award, and it’s the second time I’ve received it. This time, I was awarded the Air Force Commendation medal for building an ASP website for the Air National Guard Personnel conference.

It’s really nice to be recognized like this, but at the same time I feel pretty guilty about it. I work with some extremely dedicated people that work a lot harder than I do. I get awards and decorations a lot more frequently than they do. I guess the reason why is that everything I do (like web and database apps) are extremely visible. Another thing I have going for me is that I’m a workaholic. I check my ANG email even when I’m not at work. I connect remotely and work from home often. People notice this stuff.

As for the inspection this weekend, it’s really going great. This is because of the all the hard work of my co-workers out there. I hope they get some serious recognition for this one, because they really transformed the Network Control Center (NCC) into something great. I just hope it stays that way, and continues to improve.

This drill weekend with the Air National Guard has been great. Drill weekends sort of feel like family reunions. These people have seen pretty much ever side of me, and we’re really close. A big part of the monthly drill weekend is catching up everything that’s happened in the past month. We talk about work, motorcycles, football, school, and my future career plans. It’s pretty nice. About all else, it’s the reason why I stay in the guard.

Tomorrow is the last day of the September UTA and the UCI inspection. I plan on riding my bike in and staying pretty low key.

My TiVo is working overtime today. Right now there is an "American Choppers" and "Start Trek: TNG" marathon in progress. American Choppers is ranked higher, so it is recording the eps I've haven't seen in the past month. Next, TiVo records the TNG eps that don't conflict with American Choppers.

This morning I looked for jobs on Monster.com . Looks like I can make 110k if I move to NY. I don't plan on moving until Spring / Summer of 2004, when I finish school at FSU, but it's nice to see what's out there.

This is my Dad's new Honda ST 1300. We went for a long ride this afternoon around Orange Park on a mission. It was a great way to spend a Friday off work. My arms are now red sunburned. It was a hot day today. I need a jacket. Click here, more pics

Ducati Monster S4 vs. Honda 919 : Cecil Field

Scott came by after dinner with his new Ducati Monster S4. We went out and tore up Cecil Field, a closed military base. This is the first time I've been able to ride Scotts bike and get it out of first gear, and I must say it was awesome. Although the numbers are similar to my bike, you can tell that this bike was made for one thing and one thing only: racing.

While the Ducati was really fun to ride, I was glad to ride my 919 again. Its easier for me to ride, and is very smooth at low RPMS.

On the Ducati, I was constantly shifting to keep the bike at its sweet spot: about 3k RPMs. Scotts bike really wore me out. Thats the only disadvantage to all that power and tight transmission.

It was great to take the bikes out to Cecil Field, around all the abandoned military buildings and open roads. Im hoping to take the bikes out to the beach this weekend.
